As the blankets of snow that had festooned London all day turned into grim oceans of slush, we played our last show of the year near Kings Cross, boasting terrible cracker jokes, paper crowns, and a tentative new song, but very nearly not featuring a hi-hat. Thank-you eARmusic for putting a top evening together.
We're about to complete our first batch of recordings, and then we shall resume such live appearances in February. See you then, then!

John,
As you'll see from the graphs, it was a night of pretty amazing bands. 'This town needs guns' were particularly tight, 'The last dinosaur' were great and top guys. It's worth mentioning too that the night was closed by 'Married to the Sea' doing a healthy dose of quality covers (which obviously went down well with the guys from the London office..)
How's the radcliffe file developing?

An opening slot for Post War Years in a recently-opened trendy bar in as-yet uncharted territory south of the river? How could we refuse? The venue had everything, including a veritable menagerie of plastic animals adorning its ceiling, and a sizeable crowd, all looking for Dead Weather tickets.
To this heady mix Bright Spark Destroyer saw fit to add the world's most technologically advanced pumpkin, and a guitarist who rocked so hard that he no longer had need for his strap. He cited "creative differences" as the reason for their break-up, but even this could not stop him. Luckily Matt from Paintings of Ships was there to save the day when guitarist/strap relations needed urgent reparation. And even though a fisticuffs were briefly threatened between a certain bassist and an antagonistic gentleman with a red guitar, the BSD machine rode confidently ever onward, with its gaze now turned Northward...
Thanks again to Dave from monkeysuit and also to Post War Years, for being massively inspiring.

We were daydreaming in our practice room and found ourselves onstage at a gig, surrounded by close friends and loves. Our response was Pavlovian.
It was a strange evening. Simon was playing in a makeshift cage, David kept rambling about trains and Dagenham, whilst Ian prophesised an impending piano attack.
When the clock struck eight, the piano crashed through the walls and David fled. Then we woke up, turned out it was all real. And you were there. And you were there!
Big love to the man in the monkeysuit for helping us get back home.

James said 'I've got a confession to make', and started singing. So began Bright Spark Destroyer's very first gig, a small triumph despite a quiet piano. Playing the songs that we have been tweaking and bashing into shape for some time was a thrill.
Neatly, James' old bandmates from the days of The Carter Manoeuvre also played, in their newer bands Asteroids Broke My Stereo and Toodar. Tom from Toodar helped us get booked for this gig, I think...thank-you Tom.
